The sprinters should get their chance again on what is a relatively flat route, although expect the breakaway specialists – especially from teams yet to win a stage – to go on the attack soon after the start.
Three minor climbs in the final third of the stage may disrupt the peloton’s chase or, alternatively, act as a springboard for a late attack; but the odds are that a sprinter will survive and take victory in the beautiful and historic city of Pau with its majestic Pyrenean backdrop.
