Helen Wyman, Katie Compton, Nikki Harris on women's podium, Plzen World Cup cyclo-cross 2012

British riders Helen Wyman and Nikki Harris placed second and third behind American Katherine Compton in the second round of the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup in Plzen, Czech Republic, on Sunday.

The trio were part of a lead group of seven riders in the women's race before Compton moved away on the last lap. Wyman chased hard, but was unable to regain contact with the American, who now moves into the overall World Cup lead. Harris came in for third. Fellow Brit Gabriella Day placed ninth.

Nigel Wynn
Former Associate Editor

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
