G4 is a French cycling clothing brand which is based near Nice. With summer weather in the South of France significantly hotter than here in the UK, it should be a good option now that the mercury has headed up.
With the Olympics fast approaching, its summer weight G4 Brazil National jersey is topical, although G4 also makes French, Belgian and Italian variants if your affiliations lie elsewhere, as well as a range of non-flag standard designs.
The G4 Brazil National jersey comes with a large Brazilian globe across the back and a smaller one on the left front. It’s also got a full front zip and the usual three rear pockets plus a fourth zippered valuables pocket. There are some nice quality touches such as the reinforcement at the tops of the pockets to help prevent sag and a backing strip and top and bottom zip garages on the front zipper.
Watch: how to dress for hot conditions
The bottom gripper is a wide single layer with silicone dots, which keeps everything in place well, while the sleeves have non-sewn welded gripperless seams for a clean finish. The collar is high, soft and elastic for a close fit.
The G4 Brazil National jersey is made from a lightweight lycra which is stretchy and breathable, so it is very comfortable in the heat and there’s good airflow. The fit is good too: it’s close without feeling tight or conversely allowing a lot of windflap. G4 claims that the fabric has enough give in it for the jersey to be suitable for men and women, although it makes women’s-specific designs too.
For the full Brazilian, there’s a matching pair of mostly black bib shorts priced at £154.96 and a cap, headband and socks too.
