- Well priced
- Good resistance at all speeds
- Roller needs to be set up with each use

With a price that is hard to ignore, Jet Black’s Z1 is probably the best-priced fluid trainer on the market.
There is no need for any assembly and the Z1’s basic, albeit stable, frame highlights that the brake unit is what your money goes into.
A Hydrogel roller reduces noise but with no cam lever to set tyre-to-roller pressure, this needs to be set up each time the turbo is used.
Pedalling harder increases resistance with the heavy flywheel balancing the changes in resistance, smoothing the ride.
Getting the unit up to speed, the heavy flywheel can be felt but once the momentum increases the trainer feels natural with ample resistance.
