Reynolds Stratus Pro review

The Reynolds Stratus Pro wheelset has everything to be 10/10 but with one or two issues on test it didn't quite have it...

Cycling Weekly Verdict

This blot on Reynolds’ copybook is a shame, as the bladed spokes, aero profile and so far faultless tubeless system make for a perfect all-round wheelset. They are also available with disc brake hubs. The quality QR skewers, excellent milled braking surface and pleasingly loud freehub all add to the positives. As does the sheer class of the ride. But we have to deduct a couple of marks for those early misdemeanours.

Stratus Pros are the top aluminium-rimmed road wheels on offer from Reynolds.

At a claimed 1,445g, they are light and extremely stiff, meaning they spin up to speed quickly and climb beautifully.

The 28mm rim depth and 20/24 spoke count, with two-crossed lacing at the rear makes for a strong wheelset.

However, this set is still on probation in that regard. A rear, non-driveside spoke came loose early in the test.

With no repeat since being sent back for repair, we can put this down to a rogue nipple or spoke thread.

But we’ve also noticed a slight loss of true on the same wheel, which again could be down to the repair. The front wheel is perfect.
