To get us through the back end of the harsh UK winter, we headed off to Calpe to get some sunny miles on the new Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 Hydraulic groupset – sadly we were met by snow and freezing rain (please have some sympathy).
Traditionally the main draw back with disc brake bikes is weight, which shouldn’t be an issue any more with the new Shimano Dura-Ace Di2; the complete groupset weighs 2389g, only 338g more than the rimmed brake Dura-Ace 9150.

Rotor sizes are between 140 and 160mm, though Shimano believe that 140mm are plenty for the road. The levers also have reduced in size being almost identical to the non-hydro versions too, great for those with little hands!
Giro launched its new hybrid shoe to incorporate laces, Velcro and the modern standard in shoe closure systems, a Boa dial. It’s aim to produce a shoe that is comfortable, lightweight, stiff but above all have the ability to be adjust on the fly. Although not to the taste of the team style wise, they perform amazingly well…
Chainset sizes is always hot topic at Cycling Weekly, and it divides opinion among the masses too.
Praxis Works has produced a sub-compact chainset that is an even lower ratio to help us climb the toughest ascents or be more comfortable on the growing gravel road scene.
Finally to our bike of the month which is the Wilier Cento10 Air, its dedicated aero road bike. Launched in June last year to celebrate 110 years of Wilier, the Cento10 replaced the Cento1, said to save the rider three per cent in aerodynamic drag.

All the cables apart from the front brake are routed internally through the frame and the Wilier Cento10 Air can be set up to work efficiently with mechanical and electronic groupsets from any of the big three suppliers. It’s also easy to fix an out front Garmin mount to the bars.
