Despite only being only 21-years-old, Lucy Garner is already in her fourth season as a professional cyclist.

Now riding for Wiggle-High5, the British rider counts two junior world championship road race titles in her palmarès and played a key part in Lizzie Armitstead‘s elite worlds win at the end of 2015.

Garner’s love of cycling started when she rode a Penny-farthing in her father’s cycling club, but none of the scars she’s picked up came from riding atop the Victorian invention.

A common injury for Garner is her teeth going through her bottom lip, an ailment that sounds more gruesome than the scars it’s left – which thankfully for her are barely visible.

Mixing disciplines, the Wiggle-High5 rider crashed on the track and scraped her leg and then managed to crash in the same place the next day whilst riding cyclocross. The mud didn’t mix well with abrasion.

Garner was speaking at a training-press camp on Mallorca. Wiggle, the world’s largest online cycle and tri-sports retailer are proud sponsors of the Wiggle-High5 team.
