It’s a brand new bike, and Trek has strived to make it as light as possible. As a result, Contador’s race machine weighs in bang on 6.8kg, although the mechanics actually had to add 400g to bring it up to the UCI weight limit.
Contador is a real proponent of the new Émonda, wanting to ride it for the duration of the whole Tour, and not switch it out for the more aero, but slightly heavier Trek Madone at any point.
The groupset is a mixture of the new Shimano Dura-Ace 9150 derailleurs, but the old Dura-Ace chainrings, so he can accommodate his SRM power meter. Interestingly, he’s also running the brake calipers of the previous Dura-Ace.
Neat finishing touches include the ultra-light Bontrager bottle cages, integrated number mounts and double wrapped bar tape.
