FFWD WHEELS
Fresh from Holland, Fast Forward ? or FFWD ? founded in 2006, focuses on craftsmanship, quality and design.
The wheels, meticulously built by the company?s master wheel builder Zoran Kabala at the company?s HQ in Assen, are sold with a unique serial number and a ?birth? certificate bearing the production date.
FFWD?s F4 wheel uses a TC35 38mm deep carbon rim, laced together with brass nipples and Sapim CX-Ray spokes. FFWD own-brand hubs use sealed cartridge bearings with AL7075 axles. The price? Just £775 with wheel bags, quick releases, valve extensions and brake pads. Up one level, the F4 with DT Swiss 240 hubs and DT Aerolite spokes using the same design will be £925.
The deeper 50mm carbon F5 uses the same spoke pattern as the F4 but has a further hub and spoke option. The F5 Tubular using FFWD hubs will retail for £775 or £925 with DT Swiss 240s and Aerolite spokes. The third option replaces the 240 hubs with DT Swiss 190s rotating on sealed ceramic bearings.
Coming with wheel bags, quick releases, valve extensions and brake pads, the wheelset will retail for just £1,225 ? a great deal compared to the prices we have come to expect for carbon and ceramic bearing-equipped wheels.
