Team Midland bring their Tour of the Tracks to Newport velodrome on Sunday June 8 with a three hour training session with local coach Steve Bonnici and ex-Banana-Falcon pro Keith Reynolds in attendance.
This is the latest in a series of events from organiser Graham Hewson of Team Midland raising money for various charities. Over £200 was collected for the Multiple Sclerosis Society at the opening date in Calshot in April and Hewson is aiming to double that amount at Newport.
?Every year our club go to one or other of the tracks for a training session,? he said, ?so I decided to extend it to three tracks and see how much we can raise for MS. The cost of the track and coach is covered by our riders so any funds from other riders attending will go directly to the charity.?
Hire bikes will be available at the venue and beginners are welcome, said Hewson: ?Anyone can come along and try the track out to see what it?s all about.?
The Team Midland tour moves to Manchester on Sunday August 31, followed in November by Hewson?s most ambitious project yet, a 24-hour relay race at Calshot for Children In Need.
