Gravesend Cyclopark nearing completion

This newly-released picture shows how North Kent's Cyclopark is looking just 14 weeks away from its official opening.

Gravesend's new cycling hub and activities site is scheduled to open to the public on May 27th, although it has hosted events such as this winter's South East Road Race League as part of its testing programme.

The Cyclopark is the brainchild of Tony Mack, a long-term cycling enthusiast, and Lawrence Tricker, who has overseen the project for Kent County Council.

At 43 hectares, the Cyclopark will be the largest of its kind in Europe. It offers a 2.9km-long road circuit (which can be split into several smaller loops), a 340-metre BMX track and 6km of mountain bike trails.

The aerial photograph was taken a few weeks ago, so it fails to show the scheduled extensive tree and shrub planting that will give the Cyclopark the greenest of backdrops.

The newly-constructed cyclepath that runs to Ebbsfleet International railway station, which is only 18 minutes away by train from central London, can be seen to the left of the Cyclopark site.
