Quad Lock Alarm and Bike Finder: double security in one single smart device

We’re all familiar with that low-level anxiety when we’ve left an expensive bike unattended outside the cafe. Even if you’re in a quaint little village with a duck pond and a pretty church, there’s still that nagging worry. You can’t fully relax and enjoy your hard-earned slice of carrot cake without wondering whether someone is going to quietly make off with your pride and joy.

With the new Quad Lock Alarm & Bike Finder, an opportunistic thief won’t be able to do anything quietly. The slightest nudge sets off a warning which, if they continue to tamper, escalates in three stages to an ear-splitting 93 dBA. That’s enough to send most thieves running and will certainly alert anyone in the vicinity – and inside the cafe – to what’s going on.

And if somehow they did get away with your bike, that’s where the ‘Finder’ part comes in: Apple Find My integration means you can locate it on your iPhone just like your AirPods or any other compatible device.

Most security products only solve half the problem: an alarm scares off the thief or a tracker helps you find your bike after it's already gone. Rarely both.

The software might be sophisticated, but Quad Lock designed the Alarm & Bike Finder to be as simple to use as possible. The alarm uses your fingerprint to arm and disarm it, and the device can store up to 20 fingerprints so that family, partners or ride mates can operate it too. For those of us already experiencing app and subscription fatigue, it’s a relief to know that just a fingerprint is all that’s required – no app, no monthly charge and no need to fumble with a code; your phone stays in your jersey pocket.

It’s compact at 38 x 59.5 x 16mm, so lightweight at 22 grams that you won’t even know it’s there, and there are multiple mounting options including out front, on the stem cap, below the bottle cage and under the saddle. Included anti-theft screws hold it firmly to the bike so it can't be removed using a screwdriver with a standard head or twisted off and binned like a stick-on tag.

There’s a rechargeable battery that lasts up to six months on a single charge. Charging is as straightforward as you’d expect – via a USB-C magnetic cable with the LEDs turning green to indicate when it’s fully charged. The tough polycarbonate and nylon housing is IP66 water resistant – suitably sealed against all weather conditions and capable of shrugging off dust, mud and any other road or off-road debris.

"We didn't set out to build another AirTag holder or another alarm", says Rob Cuzner, senior product design engineer at Quad Lock. “We built something that does both, so your bike is protected before, during and after a theft attempt. The goal was to make bike security as effortless and dependable as the rest of the Quad Lock ecosystem."
