Xtra Atto: A 54g 4K/60FPS Mini Camera with Real-Time Stabilisation and Multifunctional Vision Dock
The new mini action camera ready to capture all your riding adventures this year
Although a relatively new brand in the action camera market, Xtra has already made waves with the success of its previous products the Xtra Muse, Xtra Edge, and Xtra Edge Pro. Passionate about pushing the boundaries of creativity, the launch of the Xtra Atto represents a whole new way to capture footage from new and exciting angles in full 4K/60fps, with smart AI control features, dynamic action stabilization, and a huge array of mounting points to get unique perspectives while cycling. Be that climbing mountains, commuting in the city, or technical gravel trails. The Xtra Atto captures every moment with ease.
The Xtra Atto ($299) features a large and powerful 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which allows a greater amount of light in, meaning it supports full 4K/60fps video to capture your ride footage in full 4K high definition. It does this while capturing in a 143° wide field of view so you can record all the action you see in front of you, from jostling in the bunch to fast paced descents. This means the camera can be used for POV camera shots while riding in daylight or at night, thanks to the large sensor size, getting high quality action footage whatever the conditions.
To make sure the footage is not bouncy, the Xtra Atto uses MotionMaster for dynamic action stabilization, and TiltGuard for real-time horizon leveling and ultra-smooth footage. This removes any shakiness from your video. This means that even when riding off-road, be that gravel or mountain bike, your footage will always be smooth and never bouncy.
The Xtra Atto manages to achieve this level of performance while coming in at an ultra-compact 54g, making it one of the smallest mini 4K cameras available and great for weight weenie cyclists. Given its small size, it still features an impressive 90 minute battery life along with 128GB in-built storage. This small size, and the supplied attachments, mean it is highly versatile in the footage that it can shoot. A magnetic lanyard means you can wear it on your jersey and capture true POV footage while you ride. Or you can easily and quickly fit it to different mounting points for different angles under the bars, stem, or saddle to achieve multiple footage angles for a unique perspective.
Importantly, the Xtra Atto is waterproof up to 10m, or IPX4 resistant when linked up to the Multifunctional Vision Dock. So whether you’re recording footage in the pouring rain, or searing heat with sweat dripping down your face, the Xtra Atto will remain impervious to both of those.
The Xtra Atto also comes with some special features and smart controls to enhance the footage that you can shoot. So that you never miss any of the action, the Xtra Atto can be set to pre-record up to 5 minutes in advance. So even if you haven’t pressed record, you won’t miss the action even if it’s already happened. In the event that something is about to happen but you can’t take your hands off the bars, such as descending at speed, you can make use of the AI Control features and enable Nod Recording to simply nod your head to capture footage, or Pat Recording where you tap the camera rather than having to locate the external button when the action is hotting up. If you then want to change from a landscape perspective for YouTube, to a portrait perspective for Instagram or TikTok, simply rotate and remount the camera on the magnetic mount to quickly and seamlessly change perspectives.
As an additional smart feature, the Multifunctional Vision Dock can be used. This works as a charging dock, remote control, display screen, and storage expander. When magnetically clipped into the dock, the Xtra Atto has a total battery life of 220 minutes, and up to 1TB of expanded storage. The Xtra Atto can be fitted in either direction for selfie footage, or to use the touch screen to see what you’re capturing and edit settings on the go. This Multifunctional dock can also charge the Xtra Atto fully in just 40 minutes, while an external power source charges everything in ~50 minutes. This ensures that even on longer endurance rides and events, you’ll have plenty of battery life and storage to keep recording exciting footage.
Once you’re done gathering your footage, it’s then quick and easy to transfer it over to the Xtra app on your phone, or with integration to Adobe Premiere Pro for editing. The Xtra Atto supports both USB 3.1 high-speed export, up to 600MB/s, and Wi-Fi 6 wireless transfer, up to 80MB/s, enabling quick uploading.faster mobile workflows. This means less time waiting around for data transfers and more time spent out on the bike gathering footage and then being able to edit it exactly how you want it to look.
While the Xtra Atto excels at delivering immersive, hands-free POV footage, making it perfect for mounting on your chest or helmet to capture creative cycling perspectives, Xtra’s product range offers even more options for riders who want maximum flexibility in how they record and edit their adventures.
For those who demand the freedom to “shoot first, frame later,” the Xtra Sphra360 provides a powerful alternative. This 8K 360˚ camera enables you to capture every angle of your ride, allowing you to reframe and select key moments during post-production. Featuring two lenses to capture true 8K panoramic footage, with its 1-inch sensor equivalent, the Sphra360 can also capture 100MP photos.
To ensure you can capture footage throughout your entire ride, the Xtra Sphra360 has 128GB of built-in storage (105GB available), plus room for expandable storage. You can select in the settings if you want the footage stored internally or on the expandable storage. The Camera can also record at 8K/30FPS for up to 100 minutes As well as featuring the gesture controls and pre-recording also found on the Xtra Atto, the Xtra Sphra360 also features voice commands to start recording videos as an additional hands free option.
To enable you to capture footage from various and exciting angles, the Xtra Sphra360 is compatible with a host of mounting accessories thanks to the inclusion of a built-in ¼” thread alongside the magnetic quick-release. From the invisible selfie pole for third-person perspectives, to the cycling accessory kit to mount the camera up front, or you can use it with accessories from Insta360 and the DJI Osmo series. Object tracking also means that you can select an object, or rider, to keep in focus even as you move around on the road giving a cinematic filming experience.
5 tips to capture exciting footage:
- Have pre-recording on so you never miss a moment even if it’s already happened
- Use the magnetic lanyard to give a first-person perspective while riding
- Clips and mounts mean you can change filming angle during a ride without tools
- Use the Xtra Sphra360 to get a completely different perspective to complement the Xtra Atto footage
- Edit and cut your footage in the Xtra Studio app or integrate it with Adobe Premiere Pro for pro spec video editing
