Join Phil Liggett on CTC challenge ride in Peaks
Cycling commentator Phil Liggett will again be leading the riders in the annual Phil Liggett Sportive and Challenge ride organised by the national cyclists' organisation, CTC.
The 12th running of the ride takes place on Sunday August 7 and takes in some of the Peak District's most iconic climbs, including Holme Moss, Winnats Pass and Monsal Head.
Riders have the choice of 100 or 150km rides, both starting and finishing in Sheffield. The longer route boasts 2,600 metres of climbing.
Both routes are fully signposted, have feedstations, electronic timing and mechanical support. All entrants will receive an event cap. Everyone entering the event will also be placed into a prize draw to win limited edition event jerseys and caps signed by Phil Liggett on the day.
CTC members pay £17 to enter the event, with non-members paying £27. Teams of four riders pay £60 to enter.
Liggett is currently commentating on the 2011 Tour de France for ITV4.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
