Bottrill breaks Etwall course record
After the disappointment of missing out on the British Time Trial Championships last weekend through illness, Matt Bottrill (Drag2Zero.com) made sure he finished his season on a high when he rode the Plan B Racing 30-mile event on Saturday.
The Leicestershire-based rider clocked 57-44 for the A30/7 course at Etwall in Derbyshire, breaking the course record and taking victory by almost three minutes over South Pennine CC's Charles Taylor.
Despite being a little disappointed with his power output, Bottrill still hit an average speed of 31mph.
Elsewhere, Lutterworth Cycle Centre rider Matt Sinclair won the Association of Notts and Derby CC 25-mile event, covering the A25/2 course at Granby in Leicestershire in 53-41 to take the win by almost a minute from Lee Tunnicliffe (High Wycombe CC).
In Shropshire, Dean Robson (Somerset RC) was also a convincing winner, riding in the Speedwell BC mountain TT over a 36-mile course around Cleobury Mortimer and Bridgnorth.
He clocked 1-33-43 to win by almost three minutes from Stourbridge Velo rider Karl Moseley.
Veteran Pete Tadros (In Gear-Quickvit RT) clocked 20-10 to win the Redmon CC 10 at North Holmwood in Surrey. He held off Elliott Porter (Team Corridori) by 11 seconds, while another vet, former national champion Richard Prebble (Node 4-Giordana) took third spot.

Manchester Wheelers' Simon Bridge got the better of Metaltek-Scott rival Simon Wilson in the ABC Centreville 25 at Goostrey in Cheshire on Saturday.
Bridge clocked 52-54, eight seconds better than Wilson, while Leigh Premier RC's Chris Southworth was third, more than a minute further back.
Welland Valley CC placed two riders on the podium in the Northampton and District CA 20-mile event at Naseby on Saturday, Tom Sexton taking the win with exactly 47 minutes, while Tim Smith was third with 47-51. Sandwiched in between was I Cycle C rider James Stewart with 47-21.
The hill-climb season is almost upon us, and Border City Wheelers staged their event on the 5.3-mile Hartside climb near Melmerby in Cumbria on Sunday.
Alistair Robinson (Team Leslie) won with 17-23.3, 22 seconds quicker than Kent Valley RC junior James Knox.
