Adam Topham tops 100-mile time trial in Hampshire

Adam Topham (High Wycombe CC) won the Hounslow and District Wheelers 100 on Sunday, clocking a respectable 3-40-05 despite strong winds on the A31 at Lower Froyle in Hampshire.

His time was 3-40 quicker than his nearest rival, Paul Gamlin (Northover VT), while National hill-climb champion Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy RT) took third, another 15 seconds back in 3-44-00.

Pete Tadros had a superb weekend as he left the Brighton Mitre CC event with three wins under his belt. The 43-year-old In-Gear Quickvit was victorious in the Flat 10, the Hilly 10 and the Medium Gear 10.

In the Hilly, Tadros’ 24:52 beat Pedal Heaven rider Chris McNamara’s time by ten seconds and in the Medium Gear event, he beat Kettering CC’s Gavin Hinxman by 1:20. Finally, his 21:38 was enough to beat East Grinstead CC’s Christian Yates to the Flat 10 title.

Team Swift’s Andy Jackson took his second victory of the week in the Holme Valley Wheelers 25 on Saturday, having finished joint first in the first round of the Team Swift League. His time of 52:54 was enough to beat Ferryhill Wheeler Keith Murray’s 53:28.

Walsall RCC saw one of their own riders win their 10-mile event as Scott Westwood clocked the fastest time with a 21:32.

The trial, which took place in Weston on Saturday, is part of the Midlands VTTA Series and Westwood managed to beat David Kiernan of Corley Cycles by 17 seconds. Mark Corbett of Worcester St Johns CC was third with a time of 22:26.

VC St Raphael veteran Stephen Walkling placed first at the New Forest CC 32-mile trial starting at New Milton on Sunday.

The 46-year-old’s time of 1:13:35 was enough to see off the challenge of 53-year-old Stephen Whitewick of VeloRefined Aerosmiths who recorded a time of 1:14:03. Gary Dighton ( was third, just seven seconds off the pace of Whitewick.

Paisley Velo RT scored a one-two-three at the Fullarton Wheelers Bill Moore Memorial Time Trial at Eglinton Country Park in Irvine on Sunday.

Chris Smart was quickest with a time of 20:34. His team-mates weren’t far behind with Benjamin Peacock clocking a 20:53 and Peter Murdoch making it round in 21:02.

Scuderia RT rider Graham Moir raced around the 10-mile Newquay Velo TT course in 20:48 to post the quickest time of the event on Sunday. He beat Cycle Logic’s Martyn Lewis into second by 36 seconds. Dream Cycling’s Tony Chapman was third.

Cleveland Wheelers used a new course for their 25-mile time trial on Sunday and it was Harry Tanfield of KTM who handled it the best.

Tanfield completed the course between Swainby and Pinchinthorpe in 54:39. TS Racing Team’s Rob Carter was second with 54:52 and in Paul Thirling of Stockton Wheelers completed the podium with a time of 54:30
