Pro Bike: Alex Dowsett's Canyon Aeroad CF SLX (video)
This is the 2017 Canyon Aeroad CF SLX of Movistar rider and time trial specialist, Alex Dowsett
Alex Dowsett's bike remains largely unchanged from last year, however, for 2017 Movistar has changed the paint job on its team bikes from matte navy blue back to gloss. The old matte paint job looked cool but required constant cleaning, conversely the gloss paint makes life much easier for the team mechanics.

The groupset is full Campagnolo Super Record EPS, including Campagnolo direct mount brakes. Gearing is an 11-27 cassette and 53-39 chain set, with a Power2max power meter on the crank. Alex Dowsett's saddle of choice is carbon railed Fizik Arione R1.
The cockpit is particularly neat. Dowsett is using Canyon's integrated aero bar and stem, with custom matching Movistar blue shifter hoods and lizard skins bar tape. There is also custom Lizard Skins Movistar finishing tape too!

The junction box is neatly tucked in a recess under the Canyon stem and Dowsett also has Canyon’s new out-front Garmin mount. Campagnolo Bora Ultra 50 tubular wheels with 25mm Continental Competition Pro Ltd tubular tyres.
Dowsett favours the Canyon Aeroad over the lighter Ultimate because its superior aerodynamics complement his riding style as a rider who likes to get in breakaways on flat stages. Hopefully we will see the popular british rider winning on this slick steed in 2017.
