Dan Martin Felt F1 side on

>>>Cycling Weekly's Tour de France hub

2008 Irish National Champ Dan Martin’s Felt F1 is another Tour bike with a custom paintjob, in the colours of his national flag and sporting shamrocks to bring him the luck of the Irish.

It’s ironic then, and bitterly disappointing for him that he had to pull out of Garmin-Slipstreams’s Tour line up at the last minute with a knee problem.

Some of Dan’s personal preferences include carbon bottle cages from small U.S. company Arundel, and a Thomson layback seatpost, most likely chosen for its micro adjustable clamp, to help him dial in his riding position to perfection.

Dan's bike made it to Monaco, as did he, just a shame he then had to go home again.

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing how well Dan would have performed in the mountain stages, but his bike bears the hallmarks of a climber with superlight Z-Tech Zipp 202’s combining  with the team’s Dura Ace kit to keep the weight off.

The headtube on the Felt show's where Dan's allegiance lies. His mother is Irish and his father British. He recently chose to race for Ireland.

More Irish decals on the Felt's top tube.
