DOWSETT TAKES '25' COMP RECORD
National junior ?25? champion Alex Dowsett has become the first junior to hold two competition records.
On Saturday the Glendene CC-Biketrax star won the North Hampshire RC ?25? in the new junior competition record time of 50-49, on the H25/1 course at Aldermaston.
Dowsett shaved 13 seconds off the previous record held by S. Barker since 2001, and won the event by over three minutes.
Then on Sunday Dowsett smashed the course record in the Eastern Counties CA ?10? by 41 seconds, with 20-26. He already holds junior competition record for 10 miles ? 19-13 last year.
Dowsett covered the first lap of the ?25? course at 30mph. ?I was flying, but on the second lap I died a bit. I had my clock up and I?d been looking for a 49, but that went out of the window.?
But he knew the record was still on: ?I was thinking I?m going to make it... I?m not going to... I am... I?m not... I got it. I was over the moon.?
