The Cervélo Test Team has today revealed its new team kit for the 2009 Tour de France.
What was white is now black, and what was black is now white. The team felt that the predominantly black team strip was not suitable for the baking conditions in France during July, prompting the switch-around.
"We made the design change because racing during the hot summer temperatures that are normal in Europe is hard on the riders," said Thomas Campana, Cervélo team manager.
"The lighter colour will provide some relief from the heat. All modifications to team kit design must be approved by the UCI and we appreciate their prompt attention in this matter."
The only worry is that the nine-man Cervélo team will be mistaken for a squad of best young riders...
Cervélo's hope for the overall classification is defending 2008 Tour champion, Carlos Sastre.
The 2009 Tour de France starts on Saturday, July 4, and finishes in Paris on Sunday, July 26.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, n exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
