Jon Cannings was watching the junior race in the second round of this season’s Soudal Classics race in Sint-Niklaas when the riders approached an obstacle that required them to bunny-hop, or carry their bikes, over it.
Unfortunately, one rider rode into the barrier and somersaulted onto the floor. With him laying on the floor and his bike upended, a following rider couldn’t avoid the fallen cyclist and bike and he collided with them both.
The second cyclist consequently fell off and his bike flew through the air, hitting the netting that separated the course from Cannings. Neither of the riders were injured and both continued the race.
Luckily, the fan was filming the race at the time and the footage can be viewed above.
