Southern Sportive

A new Sportive series backed by Scott has been launched. The Scott Great British Sportive series has two events, The LongLeg Sportive on 6th May and The Arrow Sportive on 17 June. Both events supply a "secure key drop and baggage" service which is said to be the safest place to leave any luggage.

Scottish Sportive Series

The new three part series will include last years popular the Graeme Obree Classic to be held on Sunday July 29, the new event called the ‘Whisky Trail' will take place on June 29 and the first of the year The'King of the Mountains' Robert Millar Sportive, who is arguably the best stage rider that UK has produced.

Children's charity Action Medical Research is currently offering teams of four or more riders a 60 per cent discount off the sign-up fee for its London to Paris bike ride this summer. Running from July 18 - 22, there are four 300-mile routes to choose from, including two new options for 2012.

As well as fully featured event to take part in, riders on the April 1 Joker Sportive in Salisbury are set to get a nice package of goodies too. Added to this, all rider photographs from the event will be available to download for just £1 each, with every penny raised going to a local charity.

Surrey roads have been hugely popular with the Olympic road race now in sight and the ever growing likeliness of seeing a star gracing our local training routes (the British girls were out riding the route last Friday). It really hasn't been a better time to get out on the bike in Surrey, so why not use the Sandown Cyclone Sportive as a excuse to visit this part of the world and take in some of the famous hills in the sounding area.

All three routes start within Sandown Park, Esher and head out towards Cobham. The Epic (81miles) and the Standard (66miles) take in the hard 20 per cent climb of  White Down, as featured in Simon Warren's book 100 Climb, whilst the fun 35.5mile route takes in the best of Surrey in a compact route.
