Voeckler leading Tour of the Med
Frenchman Thomas Voeckler (Team Europcar) is currently leading the Tour of the Mediteranean in the south of France after two stages.
The French road race champion won the opening stage of the race from a five-man breakaway just seconds before the bunch came across the line. Romain Feillu (Vacansoleil) won yesterday's second stage in Rousset ahead of Team Sky's new recruit Davide Appollonio.
Voeckler leads Feillu by just three seconds overall, with Laurent Mangel (Saur-Sojasun) third overall at four seconds.
Britain's Steve Cummings (Team Sky), Rob Partridge (Endura) and David Clarke (Endura) are all taking part in the race. Cummings is 52nd in the overall classification, 13 seconds down on Voeckler.
The five-day, UCI 2.1-ranked Tour of the Mediterranean concludes on Sunday, February 13.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
