Frenchman Francois Pervis smashed the world record for the kilometre time trial at the second round of the 2013/14 UCI Track World Cup in Aguascalientes, Mexico, on Saturday.
Pervis clocked 56.303 seconds to cover 1000 metres on the high altitude track that has seen world records tumble. Pervis's time was significantly quicker than the previous record of 58.875 seconds set by fellow Frenchman Arnaud Tournant in La Paz, Bolivia, in 2001.
Pervis was the quickest of 10 riders that dipped under the minute mark in the non-Olympic event - one of whom was Britain's Kian Emadi, who finished sixth with 58.933.
Over the past three days, the Aguascalientes track has yielded an incredible seven UCI recognised track world records: Pervis's kilo, men's flying 200m time trial (Pervis), men's team sprint (Germany), women's flying 200m time trial (Kristina Vogel), 500m time trial (Anna Meares), women's team sprint (Germany) and women's team pursuit (Great Britain).
Matt Crampton won the men's keirin event ahead of German Tobias Wachter and Australian Shane Perkins. Crampton had been part of Britain's team sprint line-up that secured silver behind Germany on Thursday, re-establishing himself as a selection contender for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games after being overlooked for London 2012.
Laura Trott took silver behind American Sarah Hammer in the women's omnium. Hammer won the flying lap, individual pursuit and scratch race rounds, with Trott winning the elimination race and placing second in the final time trial round - but it wasn't enough to overhaul the rampaging Hammer.
Jess Varnish narrowly missed out on a medal in the women's sprint, losing out in the bronze medal ride-off against Hong Kong's Wai Sze Lee. Kristina Vogel scored another win for Germany in the sprint disciplines, with Anne Meares (Australia) in second.
