Kristian House has won the overall classification of the 2011 Tour of South Africa, defending his lead in the race from stage one right through to its conclusion on Saturday.

The Rapha Condor Sharp rider won the opening stage from a solo escape, giving himself a two-minute lead over his closest rivals - a margin that House and his team successfully defended throughout the seven-stage event.

Former British road race national champion (2009) House finished two minutes and nine seconds ahead of

Johann Rabie (Bonitas) in the final overall classification and a further two seconds ahead of third placed

Daryl Impey (MTN Qhubeka). House's team-mate

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke finished eighth overall.

Italian Bernardo Riccio (d'Angelo & Antenucci) won the final stage's sprint finale in Paarl.

Former Associate Editor

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, n exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
