Clancy proved himself to be one of the world's finest pursuit riders in 2008. The Barnsley rider was part of the unstoppable team pursuit squad that won gold medals at the World Championships, the Olympics and finally the Manchester round of the World Cup.
A fine team pursuiter, Clancy also demonstrated his solo potential, with his first individual pursuit medal at the World Cup in Manchester. After focusing almost his entire 2008 season around the Beijing Olympics, he will now return his attention to the road.
After spending 2008 with the Belgian Landbouwkrediet team on the road, Clancy returned to the UK in 2009 with Halfords-Bikehut. He switched to Motorpoint for 2010, and then Rapha Condor Sharp for 2011.
Clancy successfully assisted GB in defending its Olympic title in the team pursuit in the London 2012 Games, setting a new world record in the process.
After his move in 2011, Clancy has spent both 2012 and 2013 on the road with Rapha-Condor JLT, enjoying success at the Tour Series and Premier Calendar at home, as well as internationally.
