Mark Cavendish and partner Peta Todd both announced on Twitter today that they were to become parents.
"I'm happy to announce, beyond doubt, my proudest moment of this year..... @petatodd is pregnant. I'm going to be a daddy" Cavendish posted on his feed.
Todd said "Can now confirm that whether or not the world is ready for it... there is a baby @MarkCavendish on the way. A very happy family this end."
In a piece on the Sun's website, Todd admitted that the baby was conceived during the Tour de France. The 24-year-old has been a Page 3 girl with the paper since the age of 18, but said that she would be retiring from this and instead write a column for the paper.
