OLYMPIANS HELP RAISE OVER £5,000 FOR MERSEYSIDE BABY HOSPICE
ZOE?S Place Baby Hospice in Liverpool has received just over £4000 in donations thanks to the work of the Merseyside Wheelers.
This consisted of £2,585 in a special draw for must-have prizes acquired with help from the club?s 1972 Olympic bronze medallist, Willi Moore. And £2,500 was raised by club newsletter editor Des Bradburn, 70, on his Liverpool to York sponsored ride last summer.
The prize draw was held during the Revolution 16 race meeting at Manchester Velodrome recently.
?This would not have been possible but for the fantastic prizes on offer which were kindly donated, a signed Olympic cycling jersey from Bradley Wiggins, a complete Terry Dolan track bike and VIP tickets for the Tour of Britain provided by Mick Bennett,? says Michael Anderson, the Zoe?s Place Appeals Officer.
Brian Cookson, the British Cycling president, presented the prizes.
Anderson congratulated the prize winners and thanked Des Bradburn, Willi Moore and Revolution organisers James Pope and Fran Millar for their support.
Zoe?s Place is the only baby hospice in the UK.
