STUDENT RAISES £750 RIDING 100 MILES ON A TURBO
A 15-year-old GCSE student has raised £750 for charity after riding 100 miles on a turbo trainer in under five hours.
Phil Hudson, a rider at Chelmer CC cycling club in Chelmsford, began the ride on Wednesday 29th of November, starting steadily and slowly increased his pace. Despite having to stop to reset the machine, the cheering of his club mates, captain, coach and his mum kept him going, and he completed the ride in an impressive 4 hours and 58 minutes.
The Chalvedon School in Basildon pupil was set the task of raising £50 for a charity of his choice as part of his A/S level coursework. Instead, he set himself the challenge to ride 100 miles in under five hours. Word of the challenge spread and the proceeds began to flood in. Phil will donate the money to Cancer Research.
