Tour de France 2017

The 2017 Tour de France route presentation takes place in the Palais des Congrès, Paris, from 10.30am to 12noon UK time on Tuesday, October 18. You will be able to watch a live video stream of the whole route presentation here.

The Grand Départ of the 2017 Tour has previously been announced: Düsseldorf in Germany will host the start of the opening two stages of the race. The first stage on Saturday, July 1, will be a 13km individual time trial, and stage two will start from Düsseldorf but with an as yet unspecified finish location.

Race organiser ASO has confirmed that once again the 2017 event will finish on the Champs Elysées in Paris on Sunday, July 23.

What happens between Düsseldorf and Paris is a closely-guarded secret. However, if you combine the rumours, speculation and detective work carried out by various parties, the Tour will visit the Vosges, Jura, Pyrenees in the second week and Alps in the third week.

All will be officially revealed in Paris on Wednesday in front of an audience of 4000 people, including many of the race's star riders.

Defending champion and triple Tour winner Chris Froome (Sky) is already the bookmakers' favourite to win the 2017 Tour, followed by Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España winner Nairo Quintana (Movistar).
