A 45-year-old cyclist has died after colliding with a bus in central London on Saturday in which he suffered serious head injuries.

The cyclist was involved in the accident involving the Route 15 bus near the Strand just after 5pm and died on Sunday evening, according to the Evening Standard.

The Standard reports that the driver of the bus stopped at the scene and is helping police with their investigation.

Police have not formally identified the man, but say that his family has been informed.

It is believed that the man is the third cyclist to die on London’s roads this year, following the deaths of Christopher Holt on May 15 and Magda Tadaj, who died in Selhurst on May 23.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the Strand. Anyone with information is urged to call the Merton Traffic Garage on 020 8543 5157
