After clocking an impressive 19-55 to take second spot in the National 10 a fortnight ago, Michael Hutchinson will be aiming to claim a fifth National 25-mile title when the race is staged in Devon this Sunday.

Hutchinson was only denied a seventh consecutive National 10 title by Bradley Wiggins, but with the Sky professional not tackling the National 25, few would bet against Hutchinson to claim victory when the ’25’ takes place at Holsworthy.

Off before Hutchinson is’s Mark Holton, while Rudy Project National Series leader Matt Bottrill (I Ride RT) is off two minutes before him.

Elsewhere, there are plenty of interesting events taking place for riders who prefer longer distances.

The VC Cumbria ‘50′ has attracted top riders including Preston C’s Robin Brennan as well as the promoting club’s Brian Payton, while Derek Parkinson (Cleveleys RC) could also find himself on the podium.

And Team Swift’s Joel Wainman, who was second to Julian Jenkinson in the Manchester Wheelers 50 last weekend, will be aiming to go one better with victory in the Ferryhill Wheelers 50 at Crathorne in North Yorkshire on Saturday..

Several riders are chasing fast 10-mile times this weekend, with the Yorkshire Cycling Federation staging an event on the fast V718 course at Newport in East Yorkshire.

A full field of 150 plus tandems and reserves are due to tackle the event, with last of the solo riders being Andy Bason (Team Pedal Revolution), while other fast men include his team-mates Nik Bowdler and Nino Piccoli.

Thanks for your comments. It is certainly our intention to report on as many time trials as we can, so please spread the word to event organisers to let us have their results ASAP after the event to

How I agree with you Eddie, Ialso wish the top secret numbering of courses would end. I am no longer an active cyclist but actually would turn up to watch local TTs if only I knew where they were!

Good to see this newly introduced preview on the Cycling Weekly website. Thank you.
As an older reader I prefer to read a magazine article than see the same information on a website. However, I stopped taking CW magazine around a year ago when TT coverage – my particular interest – had virtually ceased.
If this preview section, together with subsequent reports on some of the previewed events, could be included in CW magazine, then I would very happily renew my readership
