Rob Sharman has been appointed endurance coach to British Cycling?s Olympic Development Plan.
The former Premier Calendar winner and GB rider joins senior ODP endurance coach Darren Tudor working with the junior squad, starting with a week-long training camp at the Newport Velodrome beginning February 16.
The 29-year-old from Derby will now hang up his racing wheels and no longer ride for Sigma Sport. ?I won?t be racing any more, but it is a sacrifice well worth making. I am just sorry to let the Sigma guys down,? he said.
Sharman fought off some stiff competition to land the new job and makes a big step up from his current role as Go-Ride coach. ?It is a great opportunity to be able to work with the juniors,? he said. ?I have worked with Dave Brailsford before, when I was on the under-23 programme all those years ago.
?It [British Cycling] is a relentlessly progressing organisation and it is great to be a part of that. I?m looking forward to getting stuck into it,? added Sharman.
