Cervelo P5 time trial bike

Aero by Cervélo, hydraulics by Magura – the P5 debuts the result of a collaboration with the German hydraulic specialists.

An effective centrepull design for the brakes keeps airflow sweet and they also boast simple quick releases and a self-lubing, sub-500g system weight.

Designed in sections, the aero-dynamics were worked up on computer models before being tweaked in the wind tunnel.

As well as reducing drag numbers, the Project California team have fettled the carbon lay-up too. ComfortPly is the chosen name for the vibration-reducing result.

With a non-UCI-compliant nose fairing, stem ‘beard’, shrouded brakes and proprietary Aduro aerobar (made by 3T), the complete system screams fast before you even talk about the frame. Claims of 30 seconds-worth of drag reduction over the competition are equally bold.
