SRAM have announced that the Saunier Duval ProTour squad will be riding bikes equipped with the company’s new Force groupset.

This is the first time a ProTour team has used drivetrain componentry from a company other than the two dominant manufacturers, Shimano and Campagnolo. Gilberto Simoni, David Millar and team-mates will be riding Scott Addict bikes (pictured) equipped with the groupset – last year they used Scott CR1 Team bikes adorned with Campagnolo Record.

The SRAM Force groupset uses an innovative ‘double tap’ mechanism to shift gears – one lever is used to change up or down, depending on how far you push it. Carbon fibre is also used extensively, featuring in the crank arms, brake levers and rear derailleur cage.
