Zipp launches new 30 and 60 wheelsets

It’s not all doom and gloom at this time of year, as we can expect to hear of all the new offerings from various companies to keep us going through this cold period and with that, Zipp have announced two new wheelsets to whet our sporting appetites.

The new Zipp 30 and Zipp 60 claim the typical aerodynamic performances of their existing ranges and have applied them into these two clincher rim versions. Both worked around a upgraded aluminium hub, which is compatible with the new generation 11-speed cassettes as well as the standard 10-speed bodies. Naturally, SRAM, Shimano and Campagnolo cassette bodies will be available.

The Zipp 30 is built on a hybrid toroidal aluminium rims and has been designed as the everyday wheel. From the cafe run to race day, these 30mm deep rims are said to be more aero efficient than your bog standard ‘V’ shaped deep section carbon wheel, whilst still trying to remain durable and relatively lightweight (front 756g and rear 890g).

This should provide a stable and trusted wheel underneath you costing £305 front and £370 for the rear.

For the thrill seekers among us, Zipp brings the 60, which is a 58mm deep section carbon body with an aluminium braking surface to provide dependable braking in all weather conditions. Along with the dimpled rim and Sapim CX-Ray spokes, the 60 is geared towards the race market providing a faster, more aero wheel which comes out slightly heavier than the 30s, so maybe not for the big mountain stage (front 850g and rear 970g).
