Watch: Tom Dumoulin accidentally whacks podiums girls as he receives the pink jersey
Team Sunweb rider not quite as smooth on the podium as he looked on his TT bike
Tom Dumoulin tasted victory in stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia with a dominant time trial performance, but wasn't quite as smooth when he went to collect his pink jersey.
After pulling on the maglia rosa, Dumoulin posed for photographs with his arms in the air, cuddly toy in one hand, bouquet of flowers in the other.
All was going so smoothly until the Dutchman didn't see the podium girls stepping up beside him, bringing his arms down to land his elbows in the faces of both women.

Thankfully neither appeared to be hurt, laughing it off as Dumoulin looked more than a little embarrassed at his less than gentleman-like behaviour.
After an excellent performance in the 39.8km stage to Montefalco, the Team Sunweb rider now holds a 2-23 advantage at the top of the general classification, meaning he should have plenty more chances to practice his podium protocol over the next few days.
