Winchester is going cycling mad this summer, beginning with the city's Cycle Fair on Sunday June 23.
To celebrate the end of British Cycling Week, parts of Winchester will be transformed into a hive of cycling activity. Attractions and entertainments include roller racing, a mountain bike display team, BMX skills, a cycle treasure hunt, bike decorating, smoothie bike and toddler trikes throughout the afternoon, not to mention a comedy unicycling policeman.
Meanwhile a ‘Bike Bus' will lead cyclists along the National Cycle Network across the beautiful Hockley Viaduct to a new cycle track at the South Winchester Park and Ride, where British Cycling will host some fun cycle skills lessons. And of course there will also be a host of cycling stalls, including free security bike marking. It all takes place between noon and 4pm on June 23.
Later in the summer Winchester will be hosting its family-friendly sportive on Saturday August 10, and then on Sunday August 11 there is the Family Cycle Day, rounded off by the Winchester Criterium.
