Stage eight of the 2017 Vuelta a España promises a showdown between the general classification favourites on the steep final climb of Alto Xorret de Catí, positioned just before the finish.
The climb features gradients of over 20 per cent in places, providing a launchpad for attacks both from the GC riders and from any riders in an escape group.
After the climb’s peak, there are three kilometres of downhill and flatter sections before the line.
