'Buy one, get one free' with CTC Swindon sportive
National cyclists' organisation, CTC has organised a 'buy one, get one free' sportive on Sunday February 19 where all entrants can take along a friend for free.
The Swindon CTC Cycle Champions sportive and free family cycle ride starts and finishes at Lydiard Park, Swindon. Two sportive route distances are on offer, 55km for novices and 75km for experienced riders, with a family-friendly 14km ride around traffic-free bike paths in West Swindon.
All routes will be well signposted and feature feed stops and mechanical assistance.
The 75km route is the only loop that includes notable hills. After visiting Malmesbury, it heads on a 16 per cent climb over the Ridgeway before returning to Swindon.
"We're really excited about having these rides in Swindon and the offer of having a friend ride for free on the day is a massive plus," said local CTC Cycle Champions Cycling Development Officer Anna Chisling.
"It's great to know that the shorter of the two road routes is attracting cyclists new to organised events who are looking to increase the amount of cycling without doing massive distances.
"The family route round the town on traffic free paths is a well established ride that we have used many times on our summer evening rides and will continue to use after the event so come along and try it out!"
