Pooley has had several successes on the road including first in the Rund um Schönaich in 2007 as well as winning the Trofeo Alfredo Binda in 2008.
Emma has since ridden for the Team Specialized Designs Squad and has now signed for the Cervelo-Lifeforce team for 2009, and her experience on the road was invaluable for Nicole Cooke in her Olympic-Worlds double.
A strong climber, Pooley was key in whittling down Cooke's rivals in the Olympic road race. She recovered well to take a silver medal in the time trial in Beijing, an event which is not her forte.
At the end of 2012 after her AA Drink squad disbanded due to lack of sponsorship, Pooley was rumoured to be considering retirement from the sport but signed with the Bigla team for 2013, and then Lotto-Belisol for 2014.
