Frank Schleck to miss Paris-Nice
Trek Factory Racing will be led by Bob Jungels at Paris-Nice after Frank Schleck withdraws though injury. Giant-Alpecin also announce lineup
Frank Schleck will miss next week’s Paris-Nice as he continues his recovery from injuries suffered in his crash at the Ruta del Sol.
The Luxembourger, who rides for Trek Factory Racing, was involved in a huge crash that decimated the peloton on stage one, caught on camera by Jeremy Roy.
He lost over seven minutes on the stage and pulled out of the race before the afternoon’s time trial.
Trek will likely be led by Bob Jungels at Paris-Nice, which starts on Sunday, who has shown strong form so far this season, winning Etoile de Bessèges and finishing tenth overall at the Ruta del Sol.
Meanwhile, Giant-Alpecin have named a strong squad for the eight-day race to challenge in the sprints, time trials and mountains.
Tom Dumoulin will be hoping to impress against the clock in the 6.7km prologue in Maurepas, John Degenkolb is the man for the flat stages, while Warren Barguil will be Giant’s main threat in the mountains.
