Lizzie Armitstead takes victory in Boels Rental Hills Classic in the Netherlands
Commonwealth Games road race champion Lizzie Armitstead (Boels Dolmans) won the Boels Rental Hills Classic race in the Netherlands on Friday.
Armitstead was part of a five-rider lead group, which also included defending champion Emma Johansson (Orica-AIS), that formed after the decisive climb of the Cauberg in the 131.4-kilometre, UCI 1.1-ranked race.
Swede Johansson finished in second spot, with Polish rider Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Rabobank-Liv) in third.
It's Armitstead's fifth victory of the season so far, after she won two stages and the overall classification at the Tour of Qatar, and the Trofeo Alfredo Binda in Italy.
Armitstead won the UCI Women's World Cup last season.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
