Altura’s clothing range is becoming ever-more technical as it draws on its experience clothing the One Pro Cycling team. Its new autumn/winter range uses its trademarked PLS Technology, which it says is designed to maintain a consistent core temperature for peak performance.
Top of the tree in the men’s range is its Podium Elite range. For wet weather, its Podium Elite waterproof jacket, priced at £119.99, is a softshell which uses a fabric that is windproof as well as being waterproof and having in-built stretch and breathability. It says its ErgoFit 3D patterning, coupled with silicone grips leads to a comfortable fit in the ride position. The jacket also has two pockets and reflectives at the rear as well as an internal media port. Claimed weight is 170g and it comes in all-black or black and fluoro yellow.
Also windproof, but built to withstand showers rather than a downpour is the Podium Elite Thermoshield jacket. Again, Altura says that the jacket’s thermosuede fabric is highly breathable and that the jacket is cut to be comfortable in the ride position. There are no less than five rear pockets, plus a zippered valuables pocket. Colours are black and yellow or black and red and the price is £109.99.
For the bottom half, the Podium Elite Shield bibtights are priced at £134.99. Altura says that their key features are insulating thermosuede fabric, wind and water resistance with breathability and a fit tailored to the riding position. There’s an Altura Pro 3D perforated pad, mesh uppers and pockets for food, as well as reflectives.
All the Podium Elite garments are available in sizes from S to XXL.
