The 2013 Union Cycliste Internationale Track Cycling World Championships kick off on Wednesday February 20 for five days of racing in Minsk, Belarus.

The World Championships immediately following an Olympics can often be a quiet affair, with national teams often fielding a mix of established track riders and new riders looking to gain experience in a big international event at the start of the Olympic cycle heading towards Rio 2016.

Unlike the Olympics or UCI World Cup rounds, the World Champs features a full programme of events including sprint, team sprint, individual pursuit, team pursuit, Madison (men only), scratch race (10km women, 15km men), points race (25km women, 40km men), omnium, keirin and time trial (500m women, 1km men).

We will be covering the 2013 Track World Championships in full on with reports, latest news, analysis and photo galleries.

Isn’t great being able to watch so much of the World Track Champ on BBC/Red Button, but I do feel a bit let down by Eurosport having bought into CableTV when first available 20 years ago solely to watch cycling – and now they are dropping promised programmes (Qatar, Oman) , and not bothering with the Track World Championships – I feel they are not very loyal to their loyal supporters!!

Finally came on with sound and visuals at 16:32 BTW 🙂

  • Herbie

Ah – sound now, only – 16:17 – maybe just very busy!

Seems wrong already – certainly no red button yet at 16:12 on Wednesday – typical BBC!!
