Evan Oliphant continues winning streak in Stirlingshire

After winning the Tour of the Reservoir the previous weekend, Evan Oliphant (Team Raleigh) was back in winning form this weekend - but he didn't have it all his own way.

The 31-year-old from Edinburgh took victory on Saturday in the O'er the Crow n Doon Road Race in Stirlingshire, winning the 55-mile race at Fintry in a two-up sprint finish from Ben Greenwood (Hope Factory Racing).

But 24 hours later Greenwood was to get his revenge, outdoing Oliphant in another two-up sprint finish, this time in the Kilmacolm Kermesse in Renfrewshire, to even things up over the weekend.

Elsewhere, Richard Handley (Rapha Condor JLT) took overall victory in the Totnes-Vire two-day stage race in Devon, despite a strong field pushing him all the way.

Team UK Youth, Node 4 Giordana, MG Maxifuel and Herbalife-Leisure Lakes all had strong teams entered for the race, but Handley held them off despite only having two young team-mates for company who worked hard for their man.

Handley, 22 and from near Warrington, finished second in both the opening time trial and the final stage as well as fourth in stage two, collecting enough time bonuses to make sure he held off UK Youth who placed riders second, third and fourth overall.

There was also a close finish in the Stockbridge Down Road Race in Hampshire, where George Harper (Felt-Colbornes-Hargroves) won by just one second at the end of a tough 80-mile race.

He held off Metaltek rival Ben Stockdale by one second in the sprint finish, while Team Corley Cycles' Roy Chamberlain took third, another 13 seconds back.

There was a one-two for Pedal Heaven RT in round eight of the South East League's Summer Series at the Cyclopark in Kent, with Lewis Atkins and Jake Martin holding off PMR@Toachim House rider Harry Godding.

Breast Cancer Care rider Claire Galloway was overall winner of the Three Days of Bedford stage race at Millbrook, part of the Women's Team Series.

The 25-year-old from Cambridge wore yellow heading into the final day following a win in Monday morning's individual time trial, and held that lead following a bunch sprint finish to the final stage.

In Wales, Matt Rowe (NFTO) also needed a strong sprint to win the Norman Harris Memorial Road Race at Usk on Sunday.

After both being part of a break which went clear on the third lap, Rowe held off Richard Harris (Cwmcarn Paragon) for the win, while Bristol RC's Ben Davis was third.

And in the latest round of the National Junior Road Race Series, the Sleepwell Hotels Isle of Man Junior Tour, Jake Kelly (Team Microgaming) took the overall victory after winning the third and final stage. He was also second in the prologue time trial, and seventh in stage two.
