Hammond and Lloyd join Garmin-Cervelo for 2011
Britain's Roger Hammond and Daniel Lloyd will join the Garmin-Cervelo team for the 2011 season.
Garmin team owner Slipstream Sports announced on Wednesday morning that six more Cervelo Test Team riders will join the squad following on from the announcement that Norwegian Thor Hushovd has signed up.
The six riders are: Roger Hammond (GB), Heinrich Haussler (Australia), Andreas Klier (Germany), Brett Lancaster (Australia), Daniel Lloyd (GB) and Gabriel Rasch (Norway).
The Cervelo riders join existing Garmin signings Daniel Martin, Tyler Farrar, Ryder Hesjedal, Christian Vande Velde and David Zabriskie to create a strengthened team for next season.
"Team Garmin-Cervélo's roster will be strong and versatile," said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Sliipstream Sports.
"All of these riders bring a lot of experience to what's already a great team. I'm proud of what we've done since 2008, and I'm excited for what we'll do in 2011."
The future of many Cervelo Test Team riders was thrown into doubt after the bike manufacturer announced that it could not continue financing a team after the end of the 2010 season. Cervelo has replaced Felt as official bike supplier to the Garmin team from 2011.

With a further six riders joining the team, it is now likely that some of the existing Garmin-Transition riders will themselves have to find a new home for 2011 since there is a limit to the size of a ProTour squad imposed by the sport's governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale.
Cervelo rider Jeremy Hunt, who hails from Devon, is not one of those so far named as going to the Garmin-Cervelo team. Hunt told Cycling Weekly that he is hoping to announce his plans for 2011 next week.
The full line-up for the Garmin-Cervelo team will be confirmed in October.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
