Great Britain’s Helen Wyman of the Kona team is having the cyclo-cross season of a lifetime with several podium placings in major races, including a win at the prestigious Koppenberg Cross in Belgium last Thursday (November 1) and then topping that with the European cyclo-cross title at the weekend in Ipswich (November 3).
Cycling Weekly were in Ipswich to see all the action and took the opportunity to check out the bike of the now current European and national cyclo-cross champion.

Riding for the Kona Team, Wyman has a team issue 56cm carbon Kona Major Jake CX frame at the heart of the machine.
The all-up weight of Wyman’s bike is a gramme or two over the UCI 6.8kg minimum weight limit.

Challenge tyres supply Wyman with handmade tubs. Cotton carcasses with a unique tread pattern on the 33 section tubs are the only pair in the world at the moment as they are at a prototype stage in their development. They were used at the Koppenberg event too
The central section is lightly treaded for less resistance on the flat sections of courses. The side wall profile section to the tyre has a unique nobble pattern for all the necessary cornering traction Wyman needs. Here they are fitted to Easton EC90SLX carbon rims
