In 2018, the Tour Down Under became the world's first professional cycling event to offer equal prize money to men and women.
The race takes place in and around Adelaide, South Australia, and features a variety of terrain, from flat to steeply uphill. Riders often have to contend with challenging conditions and high temperatures, with the race coming at the height of summer in the southern hemisphere.
