Bradley Wiggins in action in Volta a Catalunya

Bradley Wiggins, Trofeo Alcudia 2013, Majorca

Sir Bradley Wiggins takes to the start line of the Volta a Catalunya today (Monday, March 18) as he warms-up for an assault on the Giro d'Italia in May.

It's Wiggins second stage race outing in 2013 after he rode in the Tour of Oman in February. That particular race didn't go to plan for Wiggins after he was caught up in a late crash on the opening stage but was not awarded the same time as the stage winner. He ultimately finished the race in 74th place overall after helping team-mate Chris Froome to victory.

Nigel Wynn
Former Associate Editor

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
